(Image): Jadon Sancho stats confirm fears he lacks explosiveness for Premier League

When it was announced that Chelsea were signing Jadon Sancho, there was a pretty mixed reaction to say the least.

Considering how highly rated he was at one point, that was quite the decline. But his struggles at Manchester United were so comprehensive that by the end there were few excuses being made for him. Most have written him off as a winger in the Premier League to some degree – but is there any sense in that?

A glance at the stats comparison between Sancho and his new competition for minutes out wide is interesting. It certainly backs the idea that the winger just doesn’t have the pace or explosiveness to beat a man in the Premier League – he recorded just 1.86 dribbles per game in his last full league season. That’s miles behind the competition on 2.19, 2.22 and 3.16.
