Jamie Redknapp was Sky Sports’ pundit for the game tonight, and at half time he noticed something clever Cole Palmer had done.
When Bournemouth had their penalty in the 38th minute, Palmer approached the various players trying to take it and smirked and muttered dark words in their direction. It seemed to work – Evanilson was elected to take it, but after a long wait then missed it.
It was pretty much par for the course in a niggly came full of moments like this.
Palmer didn’t actually shine much in this game – this moment was his most notable perhaps. The team didn’t play well and Cole didn’t shine himself. It could be that this injury is still affecting him, or maybe he just had an off day. Either way, this penalty miss just when the home team were ascendent and the stadium rocking was what won the day, and while Robert Sanchez should get more of the credit for actually saving it, Palmer did his part.
