Levi Colwill details why Chelsea fans should be excited for this season

Levi Colwill believes Chelsea fans should be excited for the season ahead under Enzo Maresca as the club look to get back into the Champions League.

It was another summer of change at Stamford Bridge with Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout and several new faces coming through the door.

The Blues have heavily invested in their attacking options with Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho all joining the club, but they were unable to complete a deal for Victor Osimhen despite the striker being their main target.

Colwill excited for the season ahead

It’s been a mixed start to the season and despite qualifying to the league phase of the Europa Conference League, the Blues have four points from their first three Premier League games.

Chelsea arguably haven’t played badly in any of those matches and the 6-2 win against Wolves was a display of what can happen when the Blues get it right and are clinical in front of goal.

Obviously the draw against Palace was a disappointment given the first half dominance, with Chelsea having several chances to put the game away.

However, despite the draw Colwill feels there were plenty of positives to take and the fans should be excited for the season ahead.

Colwill has started all three of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season.

“There are loads of positives to take out of it,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“Of course there’s a lot to improve, but we are improving day-by-day. We’re getting better and you can see the football we’re trying to play out there is really good.

“We’ve created loads of chances by building from the back. You can see the way the gaffer wants us to play and there’s definitely loads of positives to take.

“We are building. We’ve only had a few games with the new gaffer, but it’s really exciting. All the players are excited for it and I think the fans should be too.”

Chelsea are back in action after the international break with a trip to Bournemouth on September 14th as they look to return to winning ways in the league.
