Pundit claims Chelsea could have signed “better players” than 23-year-old attacker

One football pundit has this week claimed that Chelsea could have signed ‘better players’ than one 23-year-old attacker that they signed last summer.

Everyone seems to want to have an opinion on Chelsea right now, and unfortunately some people get paid to do so. Some pundits voices are reasonable and good to hear, but others not so much.

Danny Murphy always seems to be speaking negatively about Chelsea and it is clear that he isn’t too fond of them as a club, perhaps being an ex-Liverpool player and not forgetting the rivalry.

The former midfielder has been speaking about Chelsea again ahead of The Blues match against West Ham on Saturday afternoon.

Murphy has been debating the Chelsea front line, like many of us have this week as well, after Christopher Nkunku came on to grab an instinctive strikers goal to see Chelsea beat Bournemouth last Saturday.

Better players than Nicolas Jackson

Nkunku in contention to start up top

Murphy says Nkunku should probably start up top for Chelsea, and the club could have signed a better striker than Jackson.

In words cited on X, Murphy said:

“There’s better players than Nicolas Jackson that Chelsea could have brought in with the money they have spent, but I also think Christopher Nkunku can play there and he’s a really good finisher.”

He is right about Nkunku, and of course there are better strikers than Jackson around who are more developed. He arrived quite raw, but his improvement in the second half of last season was clear to see, so let’s hope he keeps that going.
