TalkSPORT pundit highlights one problem Maresca faces ahead of Brighton game

TalkSPORT pundit Dean Saunders has highlighted one problem he feels Enzo Maresca has heading into Saturday’s game against Brighton.

After thumping Barrow 5-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening the Blues return to Premier League action as they host a Brighton side who remain unbeaten this season.

Chelsea have had a good start to the campaign and currently sit fifth in the table with ten points from their opening five games, with Maresca hoping to record his first league win at Stamford Bridge against the Seagulls.

Maresca facing selection headache

Maresca made 11 changes for the win against Barrow with a number of players performing well, but it’s unlikely many will start against Brighton.

Christopher Nkunku impressed as he scored a well taken hat-trick, whilst the likes of Joao Felix and Pedro Neto also delivered.

With such an array of talent to choose from Maresca certainly has food for thought when picking his team for the weekend and Saunders has highlighted one problem he believes the Italian will have.

“Here’s your problem for the manager now, he’s got to leave Nkunku out on Saturday and play Jackson,” he told talkSPORT.

With Jackson given the night off against Barrow it’s likely he will return to the team after his man of the match performance against West Ham.

You can argue it’s harsh for Nkunku to return to the bench after scoring a hat-trick, but it’s equally harsh to drop Jackson after his performance against the Hammers.

It’s a great problem for Maresca to have with two strikers in really good form and it’s hard to imagine anyone complaining about having too many players in good form.

Chelsea are facing potentially the longest season in their history and there will be plenty of opportunities for Nkunku to start in the league, but for now it appears he will have to make do with the role of super sub and keep impressing so Maresca has to pick him.
