“That’s a goal” – Chelsea player whose progress stunted shows good attitude to fight back

With such a big squad and so much competition in the squad, not every Chelsea player is going to be able to play as much as they want to be right now.

And not only that, not every Chelsea player is going to be able to stay at the club right now and some of them may need to go out on loan to develop, and that is what happened with many of the players in the summer.

Levi Colwill has just been speaking about the competition in the squad right now in an interview on Sunday, saying how players are knocking on the door asking Enzo Maresca why they are not playing. So that just gives you a sense of the feeling right now and the amount of competition in this squad, and it’s a good thing.

Quality competition should keep players performing at the top of their game and should elevate the whole team as a result.

But there has been some surprising moves lately.

Petrovic aims to return

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has gone out on loan this season despite being Chelsea number one under Mauricio Pochettino last season. Chelsea signed Filip Jorgensen and Petrovic had to go out on loan to continue his progression.

But in words cited by PYS on X, Petrovic says he aims for a Chelsea return.

He says:

“That’s a goal, to become regular number one at Chelsea, one of the best teams in the world.”

That’s a great attitude from the current Strasbourg stopper.
