Chelsea’s draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday prompted some interesting comments from Enzo Maresca, and in turn some interesting responses on ESPN.
“Now, sometimes, if you don’t win, it is normal” the coach said, warning fans to lower the expectations they might have had from years gone by.
“Draw with Crystal Palace…. contract extensions all round!” responded Craig Burley on the ESPN panel as a joke, referencing the recent news that Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer had both got a raise recently.
Perhaps most disturbingly, none of the pundits really take issue with Maresca warning fans not to expect wins like they used to. We all understand now that this is the new reality.
