Chelsea’s preseason was full of dodgy defensive errors, but so far the Premier League has seen them look pretty assured at the back.

Well, it was very much back to late July just now. Some unnecessary fumbling about at the back from Moises Caicedo put Levi Colwill in a bad position, his clearance was blocked, the ball flew into the air and Robert Sanchez made a mad decision to come for the ball. He got nowhere near it, and Georginio Rutter was able to head it into an empty – net at some cost to himself as he was taken out in the process.
