Monday Night Football tonight is Southampton Bournemouth – but inevitably the whole pre-show ended up being about Cole Palmer following his superb four goal haul at the weekend.
Jamie Carragher was clear – he almost voted for Palmer as player of the year last season, but held back because of Chelsea’s struggles. But now there are no doubts.
Carragher’s point is more about Palmer’s England hopes, but the conclusion is very simple: “there has been no better player in the Premier League over the last 15 months.”
