Christopher Nkunku scores against Barrow

What Christopher Nkunku said to Malo Gusto before Barrow game that led to goal

Christopher Nkunku was a hat-trick hero for Chelsea last night as he helped his side ease past League Two side Barrow in the third round of the League Cup.

The Blues will be hoping to go some way in this competition this season and even be in for a shout of winning it, with silverware desperately needed and wanted back at Stamford Bridge this season.

It was a nice tie for Chelsea, but it could have easily become a bit of a banana skin. They had to be professional and show their quality and the difference in quality, and that is exactly what they did to win the game 5-0 in the end.

Nkunku was fantastic all game and was a real danger in the box. But it was something he said to right back Malo Gusto before the game that helped lead to Nkunku’s second goal of the game.

Nkunku was on fire last night

Nkunku told the Chelsea website after the Barrow game:

“I spoke with Malo [Gusto] before the game to cross to the near post. The ball was a little bit behind me, but I tried to finish with one touch and that was the best move I could do.”

The ball being a little behind him was what actually ended up helping it find the net in the end with some incredible skill and instinct from the forward.

Gusto was just a big miss when he was injured lately, mainly for his attacking threat giving Chelsea something different.

  1. Yeah, it was only Barrow, but some real class on display from the boys in Blue. Nkunku took his goals ever so well and the assist from Felix on the first one was touch perfect. And while the GK was credited with the OG, Felix’s free kick leading to the third was also sublime. If we can just keep this squad healthy our prospects look bright indeed.
