Even top Chelsea hater pundit predicts home win for Blues today

Chris Sutton has taken over prediction duties on the BBC this season, and despite being not usually the biggest Chelsea fan, he’s backed his old team for a win over Nottingham Forest at home today.

It’s not a big stretch – we’re the most in form team in the league pretty much and are scoring for fun. They are playing at home with a fresh side against a Forest outfit who have some talent – but still shouldn’t represent much of an obstacle.

“Chelsea are a lot easier to predict this season. I am not getting their scores right, but I am having much more joy with their results. Being a former Chelsea player, I obviously have that connection with the current players, the same way I linked up so well with the Chelsea team I played for.”

We’re not sure if he’s joking about having that connection with the current players and the team he played for – he famously didn’t really get on with his teammates, or the fans, or the club in general. So it’s presumably all sarcastic.

Sutton hails hero of the season so far

Sutton also didn’t miss the chance to praise Cole Palmer, the genius at the heart of Chelsea’s successful season so far. Everyone will be expecting big things from him today, before he goes off to try and establish himself on the same level with England.

“Cole Palmer, who will go down as ‘the one that Manchester City let get away’, is on fire at the moment, and it is as if he has got eyes in the back of his head. I absolutely love watching him play because everything is so easy for him, and it feels like he is going to score every time he plays.”
