Exclusive claims Chelsea set to make huge stadium decision if Eghbali gets his way

A huge claim has been made this weekend by one exclusive report suggesting that Chelsea will make a big decision on the stadium plans but only if Behdad Eghbali gets his way.

As we know, there has been a bit of an issue between Todd Boehly’s side of the ownership to Behdad Eghbali’s and Clearlake’s side. There has seemingly been a number of disagreements between the two sides on how the club has been run.

And now, The Sun is running an exclusive story claiming that Chelsea will remain at Stamford Bridge and expand the stadium capacity to 55,000 — if Behdad Eghbali wins the boardroom battle with Todd Boehly.

Blues’ co-controlling owners are at loggerheads and want to buy each other out — and the outcome will have a huge effect on the stadium plans.

Chelsea need to increase the stadium size

The club have been looking into way to increase the size of the stadium, whether that be to build on top of Stamford Bridge where they already are, or to find a brand new site and build a new stadium, which of course comes with many problems including the time it will take to do it all.

The report says Eghbali favours a £1.5billion renovation to stay at the Bridge, while Boehly wants a new 60,000 ground in nearby Earl’s Court.

A source told The Sun: “There is a growing realisation that Earl’s Court can’t be done, while Boehly could be out of the club soon.

“If Todd Boehly leaves, then the club are expected to push forward on plans to remain at Stamford Bridge and work towards a solution for a 55,000-capacity stadium.”
