Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has had his say on man of the moment Cole Palmer and believes there’s nothing to dislike about him.

Palmer is once again lighting up the Premier League after his breakout campaign last season and his four goals against Brighton last weekend have taken his tally to six goals and four assists in the first six games of the season.

The 22-year-old has picked up exactly where he left off last season after being named Premier League Young Player of the Year last season and his start has shown he could potentially replicate over even better those feats.

Souness shares his opinion on Palmer

Palmer’s move to Chelsea from Manchester City last summer took people by surprise and the £42.5m fee seemed a lot for a player who was on the periphery at the Etihad.

No one would have predicted Palmer’s success and his rise to the top has been meteoric, with the forward arguably the best player in the Premier League at this point in time.

Palmer’s numbers are incredible and in 53 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea he’s scored 31 goals and provided 19 assists, whilst in the Premier League he’s got 28 goals and 15 assists from just 39 appearances.

The England international is rightly receiving plaudits left, right, and centre and Souness believes there’s nothing to dislike about Palmer and no one should be “that good” at his age.

“If this is Palmer’s level and he can be consistently this good, he’s going to be a top man,” he wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“He has got silky skills, athleticism and a fabulous football brain. There’s simply nothing to dislike about him. He’s 22. At that age, no one ought to be that good.”

Palmer should be well rested for Sunday’s game against Nottingham Forest having not played against Gent on Thursday night and with the form he’s in you wouldn’t bet against him adding to his goal tally and continuing his superb start to the season.
