“I must stress that everything we’ve been told” – Top journalist debunks Chelsea myth

One top journalist has come out and debunked a myth that he believes has been going around about Chelsea in recent weeks and months, and even years.

Since the new ownership has come in at the club, a lot of people have had their opinions and views on them and what they are doing right, and what they are doing wrong. Many things have been said and reported.

Many Chelsea fans might still be a bit sceptical about the owners and what they are doing, whilst other fans are fully behind them and are aligning to the vision that we keep hearing about.

Some Chelsea fans though, believe that they are essentially just here to make profits. And to do this they are signing up all the top young talents to then try and spin some profit on the many who don’t end up making it at the club.

Liam Twomey believes this is a myth

Cole Palmer to be central to Chelsea for many years to come

The Athletic’s Liam Twomey has been talking about this on the latest Athletic Podcast, and according to his information, it sounds like those claims could be a bit of a myth. At least that is what the club are telling Liam.

He says:

“I must stress that everything we’ve been told from the very start by this ownership and people around them is that the strategy is not just to acquire the best young talent in the world, it’s then to retain that talent.

“They think it would be easier to buy these players pre-prime and then retain them through their prime years, rather than trying to go out and sign Mbappe when he’s Mbappe.

“So I think that is the plan with Cole Palmer, you got him before he was a superstar, and he’s exploded at Stamford Bridge. And now, if you want to be a serious team that competes for titles you need players like that, driving you on. So I think Chelsea’s playing this further, to have him central to what they do for years to come.”
