“I think we connect very well” – Joao Felix names Chelsea team-mate he finds it very easy to play with

Joao Felix has opened up on playing with Christopher Nkunku and believes the pair connect very well together on the pitch.

Felix returned to Chelsea this summer from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £44.5m, and recently revealed what Enzo Maresca said to him in a phone call before he signed.

Despite scoring on his debut against Wolves, Felix hasn’t started a Premier League game yet and has had to make do with the majority of his minutes coming in the cup competitions.

The 24-year-old was an unused substitute against Liverpool last weekend, a decision former Blue Pat Nevin couldn’t understand.

Felix is currently playing second fiddle to Cole Palmer in the number ten role and really needs to make the most of the opportunities given to him.

The Portuguese is likely to start against Panathinaikos and will be desperate to add to the one goal he’s scored this season and show Maresca he should be getting more action in the league.

The game will more than likely see Felix and Nkunku link-up together and speaking ahead of the match the Portuguese revealed why he enjoys playing with the Frenchman.

“Yeah, he’s a top player, we all know his quality, how he is as a player,” he told the pre-match press conference.
“We already saw him doing amazing things at Leipzig. And yeah, I like to play with him. I think we think the game kind of like the same way.
“So I think he already know what I’m going to do, and I know what he’s going to do. I think it’s pretty easy to play with him. I think we connect very well.”
Like Felix, Nkunku hasn’t had many minutes in the league and hasn’t started since the opening game against Manchester City.
The France international is Chelsea’s top scorer this season and will be looking to add to his tally on Thursday night, with the cup competitions proving to be his regular source of minutes so far this campaign.
Chelsea are still waiting to see the best of Felix and a really good performance on Thursday night would be the perfect place to start.
