Chelsea’s two match winners praise each other for helping Blues squeeze out 3 points

Two players are getting a lot of praise for their role in Chelsea’s win against Newcastle yesterday.

Cole Palmer made the difference in attack – he was decisive in putting the ball in the net once (disallowed) assisting the assister for our opening goal, and then putting the ball in the net again (allowed) to make it 2-1, a scoreline we managed to hold onto until the end of the game.

Moises Caicedo was a key part of holding that lead, helping us to match an impressively physical Magpies team and making a crucial intervention to keep it at 2-1 when Alexander Isak was clear through on goal with Robert Sanchez not on the scene.

He’s looked great for the most part this season, and hugely improved on last year.

Both players ended up praising each other for their respective impact on the game in quotes picked up by the Chelsea website.

Palmer and Caicedo exchange compliments after important 3 points

“The defenders today were top, making last-minute clearances, last-ditch tackles and being strong, because we know how physical they are with Joelinton, [Alexander] Isak, [Sandro] Tonali and others. So the defenders were very good today,” said Palmer after the game, while Caicedo praised the wonderkid for his impact at the other end:

“Cole is so important for us. He’s a great player, we know that, everybody knows that. We are happy to have him here and it’s nice to be playing next to him,” Caicedo explained after watching the young genius put in another world class performance.

We’re not sure either player will get to reprise their role in Wednesday night’s repeat of this game – both should be wrapped up in cotton wool preparing for another Super Sunday tilt this weekend against newly managerless Manchester United.
