Saudi circling for Chelsea takeover amidst recent ownership rift at board level

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali watch Chelsea.

Some potentially pretty big news surfaced yesterday deep inside an article as if it was just something small. That article was from The Independent.

As far as Chelsea news goes, this bit of info just thrown in at the bottom of an article yesterday could actually end up being pretty significant and is actually pretty interesting to hear.

BIG EXCLUSIVE!! Chelsea exploring ambitious move to sign Manchester City centre back as well as watching TWO Benfica defenders!!

Whether anything at all even comes from it or not is another thing, but many Chelsea fans would be interested to hear this.

This story is potentially even more significant due to the recent ownership rift at Chelsea between Todd Boehly’s side and Behdad Eghbali’s side at Clearlake. There has been issues, but we haven’t heard anything recent on it, other than it’s just gone quiet and things continue as normal. But do these things ever truly go quiet? Something surely needs to be sorted out here and maybe that sorting out is a sale of the club, or at least one side selling their stake?

Could Saudi get involved?

Boehly with his Saudi business pals

Maybe Todd Boehly, who has friends in high places in Saudi, is now looking to them to help him buy Clearlake out and go into joint Chelsea ownership with Saudi?

Maybe both owners might even consider a sale at this point with all that has gone on lately? I personally can’t see that anytime soon, but it might be something that comes back around sometime in the fairly near future. Let’s see on that.

However, The Independent are reporting that there is a feeling within the game that the Saudi state is ultimately eyeing a bigger club. Rumours abound about both Liverpool and Chelsea.

So that little snippet that was deep inside an article yesterday will get tongues wagging for sure, and it makes you wonder whether these rumours have come from in the first place.

One to watch, I reckon.
