First rumours of benched Chelsea player leaving the club surface in latest report

As we approach the January transfer window, we are going to start hearing more and more transfer rumours going forward.

The rumours around some players are also going to be heating up, especially due to the fact that some of them are being benched lately.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea pick main candidate for new full back transfer pursuit!

One of those is Enzo Fernandez. And the minute I saw that Enzo Maresca seems to prefer Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia as his two best centre midfielder options in his best Xl, I knew that we would start to see rumours like this one surface, and here we are.

Fernandez has been a regular starter since he arrived at Chelsea but has since lost his regular starting place, only being a starter in cup games under Maresca’s second string starting lineup.

He’s had a very inconsistent start at Chelsea and really, has just not really been good enough, especially due to the fact that Chelsea paid north of £100m to sign him.

Could Fernandez leave?

Future now in doubt

Well, according to a report from The Sun this week, Fernandez is willing to fight for his future at the club. However, there is a catch.

A source has told them that the Argentine has no intention of sitting on the bench for months on end if he falls down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

And Inter Milan and Barcelona – two of Europe’s biggest clubs – are now both monitoring the situation, per the report.

Fernandez was also involved in that racist incident in the summer and that has pretty much been hanging over him since it happened, even if Chelsea seemed to hold a forgive and forget stance on it in the end.

Personally I think Fernandez could soon leave Chelsea. Maybe not in January, but in the summer. However, it will only be if Chelsea could get a good offer, so I’m not sure if they will.
