“You just have to be honest” – Pat Nevin makes huge claim about current Chelsea ace

Former Chelsea player Pat Nevin has made a big claim and believes there aren’t many players better in the world than Cole Palmer.

The Blues have made a promising start to the season under Enzo Maresca and currently sit fourth, with Palmer as expected playing a key role.

The 22-year-old has picked up where he left off last season and has seven goals and five assists in the first ten games of the campaign.

Nevin thinks Palmer is one of the world’s best

Despite the signings of Joao Felix, Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho this summer, it very much feels like Palmer is still Chelsea’s main man, even though the supporting cast have stepped up this season.

The England international had a quiet game in Sunday’s draw at Old Trafford, and the Blues are anxiously waiting on scan results after a reckless challenge from Lisandro Martinez left Palmer in pain.

The attacker has picked up what feels like every individual award going at this point, and he’s been tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner by club legend Gianfranco Zola.

A lot of conversation has centred recently around whether Palmer’s the best player in the Premier League, with some saying he’s one of the best in the world on current form.

Former Blue Nevin believes people have to be honest and that Palmer is right up there with the world’s best at the moment.

“You just have to be honest with people,” he told EPL Index as cited on X.com.

“I don’t see many better than him in the world! He is seeing things that others aren’t. He is capable of skills and visions that very few players can do.”

Palmer’s numbers are incredible since he joined from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 and considering last season was his first of playing regular football his return of 52 goal contributions in 57 games is remarkable.

The Englishman will have the night off against Noah on Thursday in the Conference League and the Blues will be hoping he’s fit for the London derby against Arsenal on Sunday before the international break.
