    Chelsea needed a big win today to help their confidence, and they’ve got one.

    It was 3-0 at half time, and the second half was a walk in the park against a rotten Southampton team.

    It all started with Christopher Nkunku’s far post header after Tosin flicked a corner on. And it wasn’t a moment too soon – the crowd were already getting very restless as the minutes ticked by. That goal changed the mood and released the tension, and from then on it was a cruise.

    Pedro Neto got the second. He had a good game playing as a striker and was rewarded when he was played in nicely and smashed a finish home at the near post:

    Finally, Marc Cucurella celebrated an excellent performance by smashing one in. He was great tonight inverting into midfield and deserved this moment:

    Chelsea get the morale lifting goal-fest they wanted

    This was just the fixture this team needed after a bad run. Goals, positivity, a bit of fun.

    There was even time to give minutes to youngsters Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong, and a debut to Mathis Amougou and Shim Mheuka. That’s really the icing on the cake for Stamford Bridge, who love to see young academy players get a chance.

    The only slightly sour note was Cole Palmer not getting the goal he desperately wants to get out of his rut. He had a crazy xG of more than 1, but the ball’s just not falling for him right now.
