There are 3 Chelsea games left this season, and each of them looks to be a cracker.
There’s so much on the line – we will need to win both games in the Premier League to have a chance of making it into the Champions League next season, and then our game against Real Betis in the Conference League has a trophy riding on it.
So if you were ever looking for some last minute Chelsea match tickets, this is your moment. Every minute of the remaining 3 games should be absolutely electric, at least in terms of drama.
While the games against Man U and Nottingham Forest in the league are bound to be thrilling, helter skelter Premier League games full of the usual high energy drama, the Conference League final will likely be very different.
Betis are the opposite of a Premier League team in many ways. They have a lot of slow, technical players, and play a controlled style with the likes of Isco and on loan Man U star Antony pulling the strings. They may struggle to keep up with us physically if we can make our speed and strength count, but equally their experience and skill will increasingly come into play as the game goes on.
They’re 8 games unbeaten in all competitions, and have actually lost just one of their last 18 games.
Manuel Pellegrini always has them playing lovely football, and their passionate fans will be super up for a first European final for their historic side.
Chelsea have far more resources, and there’s no reason this should be a hard game. But there’s a very valid fear that the low standard of opposition we’ve faced in this tournament so far could have given everyone – players, staff and fans – a false sense of security going into this game.
Betis are no walkovers, and are going to be a jarringly large jump up in quality from the teams we’ve face so far. In previous rounds we’ve known we’ve got 180 minutes to make sure the best side wins. In a one off final, conceding a single goal could be enough to blow up our plans, and potentially make this whole 9 month affair for nothing if we fall at the last hurdle.
To that end, we expect a full strength team from Enzo Maresca. It will be a brutal shame to miss out for some players who did so much to get us here, but that’s football.
