Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea have agreed to sell Mathis Amougou to Strasbourg just six months after signing the midfielder.
The Blues signed Amougou for a fee of around £12.5m from Ligue 1 outfit St Etienne in January and he played just 22 minutes for the club.
The 19-year-old had been marked out for a loan deal to Strasbourg for the upcoming season, but it now appears the deal will be permanent.
Mathis Amougou to join Strasbourg
Amougou had been earmarked as a replacement for Andrey Santos, who’s now returned to Chelsea and Romano has provided an update on the situation.
He took to X.com and said:
“All signed for Mathis Amougou’s move to Strasbourg on permanent deal from Chelsea. Contract until June 2030, as @CyrilOlives reports; with Chelsea to include buy-back clause and not using loan spot.”

The fee is believed to be undisclosed, and by having a buyback clause Chelsea have the option to bring Amougou back if he does well at Strasbourg.
Amougou made his only Premier League appearance as a second half substitute in the 4-0 win against Southampton in February.
The Frenchman could be joined by Ishe Samuels-Smith who’s in negotiations over a permanent move to Chelsea’s sister club.
Penders and Paez close to Strabourg loan
With Amougou now joining Strasbourg on a permanent basis it frees one more loan spot, which will be very useful for the Blues.
Kendry Paez is set to join, whilst teenage goalkeeper Mike Penders is also close to agreeing a loan move, and the Blues now face a decision on who the final loan spot should go to.
There a number of candidates such as Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George, whilst Samuels-Smith could also be loaned if a permanent move isn’t agreed.
Buying Strasbourg has certainly been a beneficial move for Chelsea, and they will be hoping for similar success stories like Santos next season.

Chelsea coach please note PSG is playing wing balls for unmarked forwards. Please use your itelligents there. If you block the front three Chelsea can win on Sunday.
That true coz those PSG players are good at fast football so Chelsea players must avoid playing back passes
Psg is a very tough team and they’re good on one two balls, take your time and block their one two balls.
PSG are good with canter attacks so CHELSEA most unmarked them that, Way we can slow them down
We can do this Chelsea, but we have to play smart not hard, psg are good as well
Coach Meresca, please advice the Chelsea players not to play with the ball in their own half. Chelsea is noted for playing with ball in their own defense. Let the defense be careful and smart with PSG forwards
