It’s far too early to be talking about the winner of the PFA Player of the year – the new season has barely begun, and we really have no idea what shape it will be in come April.
But it’s interesting to see the odds as they stand, to get a picture of how the bookies think things are going to play out.
Anyone placing bets or wagers of any kind on NonGamStopBets.UK will find a pretty stunning lack of Blues near the top of the list, which is dominated by Man City and Arsenal players. The logic seems to be that the winner will be from the title winner this season, and that those two are by far the favourites to win the title.

The question is – if Arsenal win the league, can Haaland still grab this award? If he keeps scoring at this rate, it would be impossible to give it to anyone else. Equally, if he keeps scoring at this rate, it feels impossible that City don’t win the title.
Miles behind him, but still in second place, is Bukayo Saka. He’s not creating the same headlines that Haaland is, but he’s already having a great season and if Arsenal finally win a title he would have to be up there. On current form, however, Gabriel would feel very hard done by if the Gunners lift the title and he’s not the man with the award.
Not only is the leader of the best defence in the league (and, in fact, the best defence we’ve seen in the league for years), he’s also their main goalscoring threat at times.
After Haaland, Saka and Gabriel, things get more speculative. Declan Rice would be a nice choice given he’s swinging in these superb set pieces which Gabriel is heading home. After Rice you’ve got Mohamed Salah, which would seem a crazy bet at this point.
Liverpool have had a dreadful collapse in form and a lot of that has been put at Salah’s feet, with some pundits suggesting he should be dropped until he sorts it out. We certainly wouldn’t be putting money on him now.
For Chelsea fans, it’s disappointing to see Cole Palmer at 26/1 as our best rated chance. He’s got to get fit and get firing. A few goals will see him shooting up this list.
