Fernando Torres fired the blues for an early lead in the 9th minute before Aurelien Chedjou, an old team mate of Eden Hazard scored for Galatasaray.
After what seemed to be bright start for Chelsea playing Turkey soon became almost a nightmare.
After taking the lead from a super pass from the spaniard Azpilicueta to Torres, the blues failed to build up their game and saw Galatasaray play their game into the tie.
Speaking straight after the game in Istanbul, the Cezch goalkeeper said:
“The atmosphere was infernal. Perhaps the loudest I have experienced in my career. But the draw is fair”
“The fans really are huge for Galatasaray. It’s not easy to play there because they push their team forward enormously.”
Even though Chelsea had opened the game thanks to Torres, like Mourinho said another goal from the Blues would have killed the game.
“We had a lot of counter attacks which we could have done better with and gone 2-0 up. It’s a pity we didn’t do that.”
“We are now in a position where we will go through with any win, but Galatasaray showed their strength and nothing is decided yet,” added the goalkeeper.
Chelsea will resume their Premier League title race on Saturday when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage.
