In his press conference tonight, Mauricio Pochettino was served up the chance to throw his goalkeeper under the bus after Robert Sanchez’ error handed Arsenal a goal which got them back into the game. The Chelsea boss didn’t take it.
He did say his team had made “a lot of mistakes,” but he was very much referring to the team as a whole, especially in their response to conceding that first goal.
We can see what he’s doing, but nobody can ignore the fact that he’s basically protecting his goalkeeper.

If the manager is failing to see that his goal keeper is a big problem for the team then the manager has a big problem. This keeper makes this mistake all the time. This is a repeated mistake that he makes, and we got punished for it this time around. It is a shame that the keeper hasn’t been queried about it. He will not stop. That was why he was on the bench at Brighton.
