Mourinho eyes Terry Successor

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that Raphael Varane is the best young defender in the world.

Mourinho beat Sir Alex Ferguson to Varane’s signature from French side Lens in 2011 while managing Real Madrid.

Mourinho played Varane from the moment he arrived at Madrid and the Blues boss feels that the 20-year-old is the best young defender in world football. Speaking to The Evening Standard he said,

“I think he is the best young central defender in the world. Already I think he’s the best.”

“A young player must be somebody who plays in the World Cup for the first time.”

“These are players like Hazard, Neymar and Rafa Varane. Maybe I forget some others.”

There are reports that claim Jose could be preparing a summer swoop for Varane.

But Chelsea already signing St Etienne defensive starlet Kurt Zouma in January and with Gary Cahill having the season of his career, this is less and less likely.
