Mauricio Pochettino hints he could disappoint Chelsea fans with selection tonight

Many Chelsea fans like the EFL Cup because it gives them a chance to see some youngsters and fringe players in action, but Mauricio Pochettino in his press conference yesterday played down the chances of that, denying that he would be rotating a lot with next Monday’s game against Tottenham in mind.

“We’re not going to take decisions about Monday because I think we have time to recover,” the coach said.

So that means he is able to pick from most of his regular first team, and that means we’re unlikely to see a real host of young faces in the team. It’s entirely reasonable – he needs to be winning games in any way possible, and this is not the moment to blood a bunch of teenagers, so matter how much the fans would like to see it.

We expect some changes, and a couple of interesting choices, but nothing too crazy.
