Sky Sports had some journalists in to look at the Sunday coverage of Chelsea’s bad defeat to Newcastle, and they were all taken aback by the change in tone from manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has until now been incredibly patient and understanding in these circumstances, and protected his squad with excuses.
You can see their full discussion in the clip here.
Journalist Darren Lewis pointed to the fact that Pochettino cancelled both days off the players were supposed to have following the game as a response to a performance which he called “soft” and was visibly angry about.
Quite how Nico Jackson ended up in Spain last night is a mystery then.
As always, the Chelsea coach will keep things measured and under control when speaking to the media this week, but Lewis isn’t the only one who has noted that the manager’s attitude has changed – perhaps a sign that he’s feeling the pressure himself now.
