Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has praised Drogba’s achievement for the club ahead of tonight’s game.
Matic, who was signed back to Chelsea from Portuguese club Benfica for a 21M fee, is expecting a tough game. Chelsea’s hero Didier Drogba returns to his former club with Turkish side Galatasaray with nothing in mind but a win.
The Ivorian striker spent eight years at Stamford Bridge and won many trophies, and is likely to have a warm welcome from the Chelsea fans.
Didier Drogba’s contract with Galatasaray ends this summer and Jose Mourinho may look to bring him back and appoint him with a role at the club.
Matic praises Chelsea legend
The 25-year-old Serb, who had already played alongside Drogba before going to Portugal in 2011, said,
“Didier Drogba is a legend of our club. It’s going to be good for him and for all the fans as well. Chelsea fans will never forget him because he’s an excellent player and a very good person.”
Chelsea had perfect control of the game and scored first in Turkey thanks to Fernando Torres, but soon found themselves behind when Chedjou secured a draw in the Turk Telekom Arena. Chelsea are strong favourites to go through to the quarter finals, but Nemanja Matic has refused to rule out the Turkish side.
Chelsea vs Galatasaray will kick off at 7:45pm tonight at Stamford Bridge.
