His need to rest some players certainly comes into play in this selection, but so does his lack of other credible options.
Thiago Silva comes into the back line to partner Axel Disasi, with Malo Gusto sticking on the right and Levi Colwill on the left.
Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher get another run out in the middle, with Cole Palmer returning from suspension to play a little ahead of them.
Then it’s Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja leading the line, with Noni Madueke rewarded with a start.
That means Raheem Sterling stays on the bench, where we also see Christopher Nkunku, Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk and a few other interesting options.
