Raheem Sterling was brought up in the press conference yesterday by a journalist who asked whether games like today would be important for him as he looks to force his way back into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans – and then the England setup.
Pochettino stonewalled the question, asking how the interrogator knew if Sterling would play the next day.
It’s all done with a smile on his face, but it didn’t feel like the friendliest moment. He could have answered the question politely anyway, but he just let things move on.
We’re 90% sure we will see Sterling tomorrow, so why not just throw the poor journalist a bone? It was hardly a hardball question.
