Mauricio Pochettino is naturally served the softest of softball questions by Chelsea TV, and last night it was a great chance for him to wax lyrical about the academy after a win which saw the Blues captained by a youth team product, with another two making their debut.
Pochettino leapt at the chance to praise the club and academy – “the history of Chelsea is to create players” he said when asked about what a special day it had been for players like Levi Colwill, Alfie Gilchrist and Michael Golding.
