One of the more interesting selection decisions made my Mauricio Pochettino last night was his decision to leave Armando Broja on the bench and play a false 9 system without a recognised striker.
Speaking after the game, Pochettino painted this as a medical decision rather than a tactical one. Broja played on Saturday and couldn’t be used tonight as well. He even promised the striker a return when we face Fulham on Saturday:
“In three days we have another game and he should start. It’s difficult for a player [coming off a long injury] to start 3 games in less than 7 days,” the coach explained.
