High-flying Spanish entertainers line up new boss to replace Chelsea-linked coach

El Chiringuito may be the trashiest football TV on the planet, but there can be no doubting they get their exclusives and have great contacts in the game in Spain.

They’re today claiming that Girona have lined up Garcia Pimenta, the Las Palmas manager, as a potential replacement for their current boss Michel, who is being heavily linked to Chelsea as a potential managerial candidate for the summer should Mauricio Pochettino get the sack.

Now Chelsea fans shouldn’t get too excited thinking this is necessarily heading their way. There are going to be a host of top clubs looking at Michel next summer, and it makes sense for his team to have a replacement in mind whatever the circumstances. Barcelona are also keeping a close eye on him, with Xavi already having announced his departure.

But this without question moves things forward a step, and makes Pochettino’s seat one degree hotter.
