Diego Costa – a done deal?

Chelsea’s move for Diego Costa appears to be well and truly on the cards after it was revealed on Monday that the two clubs had agreed a fee for the player.

Rumours had been circulating throughout the evening about an agreed fee, and confirmation from reliable Sky sources may just mean the Chelsea fans’ wishes are coming true.

Indications that talks were progressing came in the early evening with many journalists taking to Twitter to break the news, before Sky Sports backed up the reports.

The Brazilian-born striker is a long-term target of Jose Mourinho and looks to be the man who could solve Chelsea’s ongoing goal drought from their front men.

Costa has scored 36 goals in 49 appearances for Madrid this season, which has seen his club climb to the top of Spanish La Liga as well as the Champions League final which Chelsea missed out on at the final hurdle.

The sum of the deal was already known by many, as rumours of a £30 million buyout clause for the hitman were well documented, and the fee sees Chelsea once again spending big in the hope of getting their man.

His wages will also significantly increase, from a reported £50,000 per week at the Spanish club to a supposed £150,000 at Stamford Bridge.

According to various reports circulating this evening, and surely throughout the weeks and possibly months to come, it looks increasingly likely that Diego Costa will be a Chelsea player come next season.
