Ashley Cole gives Chelsea fans a thumbs up.

Crunch talks expected with Chelsea legend

With Frank Lampard leaving the Blues as a true legend, Ashley Cole doesn’t know where his future stands after his current Chelsea deal expires this month.

The left-back shed tears in the final home game last season before tweeting on his personal account:

“I am weighing up my options for playing next season with my agent and sadly it does not look like Chelsea will be one of them.”

Ashley made few appearances last season, 17 in total, his lowest in a single campaign at the club after being kept out by makeshift left-back Cesar Azpilicueta.

Jose has insisted that despite the fact that Ashley Cole attracts some of the best clubs around the world and received many offers, he was still unsure over the future of the ex-Arsenal man.

“With Frank Lampard I spoke a couple of weeks before the end of the Premier League, with Ashley I didn’t get that chance. They are different situations. I want to see what is going on. But I will speak to him.”

With Chelsea being linked with Atlético left-back Filipe Luis in recent weeks, and Bertrand seemingly out the door at Chelsea, this may point towards an extension to Ashley Cole’s contract.

However, if Mourinho still sees Azpilicueta as a left-back, Cole would surely look elsewhere rather than be third choice at the Blues.
