Chelsea win race for Barcelona starlet

Chelsea have won the race for Josi Quintero’s signature after convincing him to leave Barcelona’s La Masia academy in favour for West London.

Quintero was rated as one of the hottest prospects in the Catalan giants’ famous academy, but reportedly saw his future with the first team going no where.

The Ecuadorian took to Twitter to announce the news and posted pictures of him signing the contract that he revealed he was in talk for last week.

London rivals Arsenal and French club Lyon were reportedly in for the youngster but the backroom staff at Chelsea academy convinced him to sign for the Blues.

Quintero claimed he was “happy” to be switching to what he called a “great club”.

The winger is known for his pace and is thought not only to be one of the hottest prospects prviosuly in the Barca academy, but potentially the best player to come out of Ecuador since Antonio Valencia.

He was on the bench for the Chelsea under 21 side on Saturday as they took on Sutton United.
