Jose Mourinho has admitted that Cech is not totally happy at being beaten to the number one spot at Chelsea, but went on to say he will get the chance to play games this season.
Thibaut Courtois beat the Chelsea legend to a starting spot against Burnley on Monday after returning to Stamford Bridge following three loan spells at Atlético Madrid.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s first home game of the season, Mourinho admitted that Cech was not completely comfortable with his current position at The Blues.
“He’s a top professional. He’s working as always, behaving as always, being a group man as always, being a Chelsea man as always”, he said.
Is he totally happy? I don’t believe. But it’s not just him, it’s everyone that didn’t start [vs Burnley].
“This period is hard for them and for me because it’s one with one match per week.”
“The first three matches, they clearly feel that some are playing more and some are not”, Jose claimed.
“In September… there will be three matches a week and everybody playing with rotation”, he insisted.
“September is easier for them and me in the sense that everyone feels much better.”
Cech has been linked with a move away from The Bridge in recent weeks, with him reportedly not being totally happy playing second fiddle in West London.
However, with Mourinho saying he has reacted relatively postive to losing his place, which suggests Cech will be here beyond the end of the transfer window.
Mourinho finished by saying that Cech’s behaviour in this period had been “fantastic”, which he said was vital.
