Diego Costa trains as normal ahead of Man Utd clash

As the Chelsea squad make the short flight to Manchester this evening, it has been revealed that Diego Costa did properly train on Saturday despite injury concerns.

The striker’s fitness has been touch and go thanks to a hamstring injury and an illness that saw him hospitalized last week, but it seems that Costa will be well enough to play at Old Trafford tomorrow afternoon.

Mourinho revealed on Friday that if Costa, who has 9 goals already for the Blues this campaign, trained on Saturday then he would be well enough to start the game against Van Gaal’s side.

If this is still the case, the back-up plans and panic can be put to one side as Diego Costa lines up to give Chelsea an obvious boost going into the game.

Chelsea are certainly missing Loic Remy through injury and Didier Drogba is still to gain full match fitness, so a healthy Diego Costa is vital to Chelsea’s chances of an important win on Sunday.

Louis van Gaal revealed yesterday that he felt Mourinho would start with the Brazilian-born striker, even if his fitness was in doubt.

Jose will play with him when he can because he wants to win.

Chelsea will now almost be working with a fully fit and ready squad as Andre Schurrle, Ramires and Obi Mikel return from injury but Cesar Azpilicueta begins his three game suspension picked up at Crystal Palace.

The reds have had a boost of their own after Angel Di Maria was declared fit to play after a groin injury.
