Premier League leaders Chelsea hosted West Ham United at Stamford Bridge in the first fixture ahead of a full Boxing Day program.
The Blues, who beat Stoke city on Monday night to go 3 points clear again of Man City, extended their lead today to six points after beating West Ham United 2-0 to continue a great run of form.

Chelsea came close with Oscar and and Gary Cahill early on, but it was Captain John Terry who broke the deadlock as Diego Costa’s flicked on a corner in the 31st minute – that was the second goal for Terry in a week.
West Ham who currently sit fourth had a couple of chances but were unable to gain a foothold in the game and after a tame first half the hammers came back fresher than ever. They approached the game differently in the second half, but their hopes were quickly snuffed out by a great finish from Diego Costa shortly after the hour mark.

West Ham didn’t manage a single shot on target in the first half whereas the blues racked up a total of 28 shots which clearly indicates how West Ham are still far away from the level needed to claim a Champions League place.
As Chelsea made some late changes, introducing Drogba and Mikel, West Ham snatched a consolation effort when Morgan Amalfitano controlled a ball from Song’s cross and chipped it over the dive of Courtois but the ball bounced back off the post.
It was without any doubt the best effort for big Sam’s team, all ourselves and he can hope is that they will do better when they host Arsenal on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Jose will be hoping we can continue this run of form and finish 2014 top of the league when we travel to Southampton on Sunday.
