Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea – Player Ratings

Courtois 6/10 – Failed to handle a few crosses comfortably and Chelsea were lucky Villa could not capitalise on this.

Ivanovic 8/10 – Came up with the winning goal but I feel he was out of position when Villa equalised, it was almost a perfect performance from the Serbian.

Cahill 6/10 – Decent performance considering he has been been on the bench for the last few games.

Terry (c) 7/10 – Another solid performance from the captain.

Azpilicueta 7/10 – Full of running and played a big part in setting up Ivanovic, had a slight niggle late on.

Ramires 6/10 – Worked very hard all afternoon and almost broke free to score on one occasion, I felt we still missed Fabregas and Chelsea where poor in transition due to this.

Matic 6/10 – Solid performance from the Serbian, I don’t think his forward passing was great and he was possibly missing Fabregas next to him.

Willian 8/10 – Willian was my man of the match, he displayed great vision to pick up Hazard in a crowded box for the opening goal and was running the full length of the pitch all afternoon – at times it was easy to mistake him for a right back.

Oscar 6/10 – I enjoyed the part he played in the opening goal, although we didn’t see enough from him after that.

Hazard 7/10 – Great opening goal, but he seemed to be a bit too quiet in the second half going forward. Defensively he was wonderful trekking back to help the defence whenever we lost possession.

Drogba 4/10 – The king had a very bad day and failed to hold the ball up on several occasions before support came up.

Subs;

Mikel 6/10 – Came on and we knew Chelsea were basically shutting down shop and focussing on protecting their lead, he got the job done.

Cuadrado 6/10 – Very confident on the ball and was not afraid to take on defenders, he showed a few signs of what he will bring into the team.

Remy 7/10 – Brought in some urgency into our game and Chelsea moved up a gear through his introduction.
