Eden Hazard, in an interview with the Chelsea FC website recently, discussed the influence Patrick Kluivert had on him as a youngster.
In an interview, Chelsea’s Player of the Year was asked to look back at the ‘best piece of advice’ he had received.
I remember the first time I met Patrick Kluivert and shook his hand. I played with him at Lille. He said, ‘Yeah, you’re young, you have good quality, but work. You have to work. Every day you have to work if you want to be one of the best.’ I remember that very well.
In the interview, the winger was asked about any important coaches he had growing up, to which he responded: ‘When I turned professional Claude Paul was my first manager. He’s at Nice now. He was very good.’
‘I was very happy. My father and my mother were in the room when I signed. The director of the academy was there. I was close to him. I was 15 and I started training with the first team then. I played my first game at 16.’ – Hazard said on his fist professional contract.
The Belgian recently signed a new five-and-a-half year deal with the club, and is showing all the signs of a Chelsea great.
