With the national team squads being announced today for the friendlies that take place next week, it was no surprise to see the Chelsea regulars called up by their coaches; but for Kurt Zouma in particular, the call-up could mean a national team debut, perhaps as a deserved reward for a series of phenomenal performances in a blue shirt this season.
Zouma, who has captained the French u21’s side prior to his move to England, has been called on by the national side before. back in 2013, but remained an unused sub.
The 20 year-old has been one of Chelsea’s shining stars this season; a dip in Gary Cahill’s performances meant the youngster was called on, and the defender needed no time to settle into the team.

France take on Brazil – who have included Oscar, Willian, and Filipe Luis in their squad – next Thursday, the 26th of March, before playing Denmark on the 29th in the home of Saint-Etienne, where Zouma first attracted the attention of the big European clubs.
Zouma will be hoping to make his debut in a Deschamps side that does not include Chelsea forward Loic Remy.
