Sky Sports Pundit and former Manchester United player Gary Neville believes that United’s trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday will be their biggest test of the season so far – but feels that the Louis Van Gaal’s men’s recent form means that they are capable of winning the fixture.
van Gaal’s side head to West London on the back of winning the Manchester Derby last weekend.
The Red Devils are on a fine run of form, having won eight of their last 10 Premier League games, including impressive victories over the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
United are currently sitting third in the table, and eight points separate themselves and leaders Chelsea, going into the final six games of the season.
Former defender Neville feels that they are about to come up against their biggest challenge of the season in west London.
Neville is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: “The tests have been Liverpool and City.
“This is another test. They have proven themselves, but this is the best team in the country and to go to Stamford Bridge is the toughest test.
“The performances from United in the past month have been absolutely outstanding in any season.
“Forget the fact that in this season they are not going to win the league, in any season the level of performance they have shown in this last month has been of a hard standard.â€
United, who beat local rivals City 4-2 at Old Trafford on Sunday, are aiming to secure a top-four finish and are hoping to find themselves playing within Europe’s best football teams, in the Champions League.
