According to The Mirror, Chelsea have been dealt a massive blow in the race for the signature of highly rated Abdul Baba Rahman, as Serie A side Roma make an offer of £11m for the full-back.
Last month, the English newspaper had reported that the 21-year-old left back from FC Augsburg was a target for Premier League champions Chelsea, and could be brought in to replace Filipe Luis, who could be heading back to Atletico Madrid.
However, Serie A side Roma have entered the race for Baba Rahman, offering £11m in the process. The side from Rome are interested in offering the wanted man a five-year-deal.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is clearly a fan of Baba Rahman, who has made many impressive appearances in the Bundesliga.
However, the Ghanian international may refuse to join Chelsea, as he watched his international team-mate Christian Atsu join the Blues two years ago, and is still waiting to make his debut.
Roma are also expressing an interest in Chelsea’s Juan Cuadrado, with the 27-year-old winger’s future at Stamford Bridge in doubt, after struggling to impress in West London following his move from Fiorentina in a deal worth £27m.
The Colombian’s representatives are adamant their client isn’t moving away from Chelsea, but have been in talks with Inter Milan and Juventus.
