John Obi Mikel ready to join Fenerbache

After nine trophy-filled years at Chelsea, the Daily Star are reporting that Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel is ‘ready’ to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, and join Luis Nani as new faces at Turkish side, Fenerbache.

The presenter of the Turkish football programme , Ersin Duzen, suggested that the defensive midfielder has held talks in Instanbul, with Fenerbache chiefs.

It’s been claimed that Giuliano Terrane, Fenerbache’s sporting director, has already met with Mikel in London discussing personal terms, ahead of a potential future deal.

Every Chelsea boss, including Jose Mourinho, has found it useful being able to call upon Mikel to calm a game down when it’s needed, playing extremely comfortably in his own half, and breaking up play.

Mikel is held high in regard by the Portuguese boss, who can be often found praising the Nigerian.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho on Mikel,

Mikel is Mikel. Mikel plays today the same way he was playing when he was 18.

“He plays today the same way he played like I put him against Valencia in the quarter-final of the (2007) Champions League.”

Luis Nani has recently joined the Turkish side from Manchester United, so talks with Mikel could start to progress.
