Chelsea farewell as Jackson’s three-year Stamford Bridge spell ends

Chelsea have confirmed Nicolas Jackson has completed a permanent transfer to Aston Villa in a deal reported to be worth £65m, ending his three-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

Jackson’s Chelsea exit confirmed

football.london reported on 28 August 2026 that Chelsea had officially announced Jackson’s permanent move to Villa Park. The deal is said to have cost Aston Villa £65m.

Chelsea confirmed that Jackson’s move brings his time with the club to an end, thanked him for his efforts and wished him well for the future.

What Jackson leaves behind

Jackson arrived from Villarreal in June 2023 and leaves having scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the Blues.

His final season under contract was spent on loan at Bayern Munich. He featured for Chelsea under Xabi Alonso in pre-season before completing the move to Aston Villa.

The reported fee is just over half what Chelsea paid Villarreal three years earlier, according to football.london.

Striker plans after Jackson’s Villa move

Jackson had looked set to be reintegrated under Alonso before Chelsea signed Danny Welbeck. Liam Delap has also departed this summer, joining Nottingham Forest for £50m after arriving from Ipswich Town for £30m last year.

There could be further exits, with Enzo Fernandez strongly linked with Manchester City, although no deal has been confirmed. Jackson reunites with Unai Emery, who coached him at Villarreal before becoming Aston Villa head coach.
