Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado could be offered a way out of the club by Italian giants Juventus. The Colombian winger played for Fiorentina before joining Chelsea and endured a difficult time settling at the Blues.
Chelsea supporters will be forgiven if they cannot recall Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian winger signed for the club in the January transfer window for a deal worth £23 million.
There was a theory that Jose Mourinho bought the player only because Fiorentina was bracing for bids from Chelsea’s Premier League rivals. Mourinho said that Cuadrado will strengthen his right wing. Whatever it was, the player had a tough time settling and never proved his worth.
The Colombian was supposed to make an instant impact at Stamford Bridge, prominently on the right wing. Mourinho has always spoken of the burden on Eden Hazard being the only creative outlet for him on the right.
He may not have got enough opportunities to showcase his skills but he hasn’t shown anything to warrant opportunities either. Cuadrado struggle to adapt to the new environment and did not prove to be a goal threat, which is what he was supposed to be.
So, the transfer window began with rumours that the winger is ready to find a way out of the club. Juventus have already strengthened enough but are still looking at signing the Blues’ winger.
Mourinho has indicated at the beginning of the transfer window that Cuadrado isn’t for sale. But, to be honest, he wouldn’t fit in his scheme of things. A suitable offer from the Italian champions will see the Colombian moving back to Serie A.
The 27-year-old may have signaled his intent to fight for his place with a change in squad number. He’s still way down the pecking order and so a Juventus offer could be the best thing for him.
