The opening day draw against Swansea must have hurt the Chelsea supporters but the solace from the game would have to be Oscar. The Brazilian playmaker was the best player for the Blues and was involved in every attacking move by the home team.
Oscar rarely gets the accolades he deserves because all the attention is garnered by the trickery of Eden Hazard or the incisive passing of Cesc Fabregas. Oscar showed all of that in the game against Swansea.

What must have pleased Jose Mourinho is the eagerness of Oscar to track back and win the ball in Chelsea’s half. Mourinho likes his players to do the ‘dirty work’ and appreciates the willingness to do so.
The Brazilian won the ball back several times and also drew fouls and cards from the Swansea players. At various times, it looked like the pass from Oscar will become an assist. But, the final third finishing disappointed him and the Blues’ supporters.
He was the lone spark on the pitch for Chelsea and Oscar even marked his day with a goal. The Samba-style free kick escaped everyone and curled past the Swansea goalkeeper to put the Blues into lead.
Sadly for him, he was unfortunate to be substituted when Thibaut Courtois was sent off. Mourinho had to get Asmir Begovic on the field and he chose Oscar for the swap.
The Blues faithful can only think what could have been if Oscar played the full game. In a match that saw others struggle, Oscar showed that he can be the point man for Mourinho. If the Brazilian can replicate his weekend form more consistently, this could be the ‘Oscar’s year’ at the Stamford Bridge.
