Mourinho takes another dig at Wenger

Jose Mourinho has taken another dig at bitter rival Arsene Wenger by questioning why he his still the manager of Arsenal after not winning many major trophies in the last 15 years.

Like Jose Mourinho, Manuel Pellegrini signed a new contract on the eve of the new Premier League season and in a recent interview Mourinho was asked whether he was surprised by this.

Why? Some other clubs, they have disappointed for 15 years and the manager is the same.

His response was a clear swipe at Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. Earlier this month after the Community Shield Mourinho went to shake their hands and congratulate the Arsenal team on winning the game. However the two managers both missed each other out and didn’t shake hands, and this has clearly only increased the tension between them.

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League since the 2003/04 season and have only won 3 major trophies since (3 FA Cups). Wenger has also only ever beaten Mourinho once in fourteen attempts, coming in our last clash with the Gunners in the Community Shield at Wembley.

Mourinho and Wenger’s rivalry is largely documented and in February last year Mourinho labelled Wenger as “a specialist in failure”. The next time the two will meet will be 19th September at Stamford Bridge in the league, this will also see Cech return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since leaving Chelsea for Arsenal. It’s sure to be memorable game.
